As the lead designer for JCB’s interior component rationalization program, I was responsible for defining the strategy, design, and ergonomics of new switchgear, seating, and displays. This initiative required extensive coordination across JCB’s multiple Business Units, each operating as independent entities, to consolidate their varied requirements into a unified solution. Working closely with JCB Research’s Electrical team, I helped develop a single portfolio of common components to be implemented across all future products. This involved defining specification levels for different price points across JCB’s extensive range of 300+ machines. I collaborated extensively with test-site teams, chief assessors, and suppliers to fine-tune key ergonomic aspects, including button shape and resistance, display graphics, and seat design. Additionally, I was responsible for implementing and enforcing ISO-standard symbols across the group, ensuring consistency and compliance across all products.
